Ant Control in Gridley
Finding a few ants in the kitchen might not seem like a big deal, but your problem is likely worse than you think. A single ant colony contains thousands of ants and they typically stay out of sight, hiding under appliances or behind baseboards. While store-bought products might promise results, they don’t target the infestation at its source. That means ants will keep coming back. For treatment that really works, trust the experts at Sorenson Pest Control.

Types of Ants in California
There are more than 12,000 species of ants in the world, making them one of the most common insects. Luckily, not every species of ant is found here in California. Three common ants that we treat for are pavement ants, fire ants, and thief ants. They’re all the same type of insect, but each species has their own unique characteristics and treatment requirements.
Pavement ants are usually found outdoors under rocks, in pavement cracks, and on patios. They can easily find their way inside while foraging food. Nothing is off the menu for these pests! They’ll eat fruit, plant sap, cheese, meat, and even other insects. They aren’t aggressive, but will sting to defend themselves.
Fire ants make their nests in the ground, making it easy to accidentally disturb them. If they feel threatened, fire ants will both bite and sting, causing painful bumps. These ants can also crawl into your home and infest HVAC systems, electrical boxes, and other hard-to-reach areas.
Thief ants, also called grease ants, get their name from their habit of stealing other ants’ resources. They’re very small, making it easy for them to get into the food stored in your pantry and contaminate it. One thief ant colony can contain up to 300,000 workers with multiple queens that lay dozens of eggs a day, so they can quickly take over your home.
